Where do the puppies in the pet stores come from? "Tell 'em that the puppies were purchased from local breeders and were raised with love." That's the advice that the pet breeders' lobby gives to pet stores. People have heard horror stories about puppy mills so they ask pet store owners where the puppies come from. Pet stores all over the country follow the advice of the lobby and tell people they were raised with love by local breeders. Last week Hearts United for Animals was asked by TLC Canine Center in Newell, Iowa to assist with the rescue of dogs from a breeder selling to pet stores. Photos and individual stories of each of the dogs will be on the HUA website shortly. The owner refused to let some dogs leave and others were roaming and could not be found. The Coalition Against MIsery has filed a complaint with local authorities to obtain release of the remaining dogs. Raised with love? |
